Outdoor Provision for Wellbeing

Outdoor Provision at Little Flowers of Joy gives people a calm, green space to breathe, create and connect.

On our small urban flower farm in Wolverton, we run gentle gardening and craft sessions that support wellbeing, build confidence and bring our community together, season by season.

Allotment

We work with the permaculture philosophy and with nature to produce rather than against it. There are always muddy boots and hands here at Little Flowers of Joy.

As well as the seasonal blooms, we also grow, care and cook the vegetables in the compost and leave mould that we have made during the year..

The fruit trees and bushes are used for pies, crumbles and jams, or for the 'picking'

as we work.

We believe that when people of all ages collaborate to support each other, share ideas and surplus, a bond is formed, which fosters a sense of community.

It is a very relaxed, social atmosphere.

Suitable for individuals and small groups in half or whole 'mixed' day sessions.

Arts, Crafts & Woodwork

Learners explore their creativity through hands-on projects using natural and recycled materials. Activities include painting, weaving, clay work and simple woodwork such as building fences, bird boxes, and planters for the farm and its wildlife. These sessions encourage imagination, teamwork, and confidence, all in a calm and supportive setting.

Wildlife

Learners help care for animals, create habitats, and observe wildlife in and around the farm. Activities are hands-on and adaptable, so everyone can participate, regardless of communication style. Sessions focus on exploration, gentle guidance, and practical skills, while encouraging respect for the natural world. Learners experience joy, curiosity, and a sense of accomplishment as they interact with animals and support the environment.

Markets

In the future we would look at taking our learners to local ‘farmers markets’ where we would sell the blooms we have grown and cared for. This will be a fantastic opportunity for them to meet and communicate with the general public- telling them what they have done, grown and developing greater life skills.

Nature Walks

We spend time outdoors exploring fields, lakes, woodlands, and hedgerows. Learners can observe plants, listen to birds, feel the textures of leaves or bark, and notice the changing seasons. Walks are gentle and sensory, allowing everyone to experience nature in their own way, whether quietly observing or joining in group activities. Being outside encourages calm, curiosity, and connection with the environment.
